Write 200 words about your first toy.
The first toy that I remember getting was at the age of 5 when Santa Claus brought me a “Holly Hobbie Easy Bake Oven”. It was dark blue, and embellished with Holly Hobbies cute freckled face and large blue bonnet. It came with a couple of mixes and instructions to bake the cakes. The portions were only a couple of inches in diameter, but size didn’t matter only the fact you could make one did. It was truly amazing to me at the time to have my very own personal oven with my favorite character Holly Hobbie on it. The bad thing about the oven was that it only came with a couple of cake mixes. My mother couldn’t afford to buy the cake mixes for it, as I was told, so I had to use my imagination after that. The bulb in the oven didn’t last long either if I remember correctly. Even though we didn’t have anything to bake in it, it never stopped us from playing bakery. Eventually we had to move from our home to another one, and my mother or step father snuck it into the trash, because I never saw it again after that.

Weekly Writing Prompt from:
This week, try writing yourself an excuse note. Think of yourself as a doctor or therapist, and the note you write is one to your boss, explaining why you can’t come to work the next few days. How would you make your note sound legitimate and authoritative? What does your note reveal about your own person desires? What does the subtext of your note say about your work and attitude toward your boss? Consider all these elements as you set out to write the perfect excuse.

Dear Mr. Hopson,
Recently Zoe Force has been into my office for a medical issue. Although we have been putting it off because of her devotion to work, she requires surgery. Because of the nature of the procedure it will also require two weeks off of all work duties to recover. We will be performing the surgery on Monday May 19, 2008. She is cleared to return to work on Monday June 2, 2008, unless otherwise advised.
Her procedure is confidential and in order to provide you with further information we will require authorization from Zoe Force.
